New Boston Red Sox President Dave Dombrowski is already putting down Beantown roots. He recently purchased a six-bedroom home for $3.95 million in Brookline, MA, just a short drive from Fenway Park.

Dombrowski served 14 years with the Detroit Tigers before being released from his contract in August. During his tenure as president and chief executive officer of the Tigers, he oversaw a run of five playoff appearances and three consecutive ALCS appearances -- a vast improvement from the team's middling performance before his arrival. He was hired by the Red Sox just two weeks after being let go in the Motor City.

Despite its close proximity to civilization, Dombrowski's new home sits on a half-acre and feels like a retreat, says listing agent Merlin Rosenblatt of Longwood Residential. "Shopping, schools, bike paths -- you have everything, but the landscaping is set up to feel secluded."

Rosenblatt says the home is one of her "favorite properties," and it's not hard to see why. Off the kitchen -- where custom walnut cabinets are paired with white countertops -- a sunny breakfast nook overlooks the enormous backyard.

"The house has a beautiful open floor plan," says Rosenblatt. "When you come into the space, it's completely open."

The master bedroom offers a luxurious en suite bath, with ceramic marble-effect walls -- a practical choice that provides the glamour of marble with the easy upkeep of ceramic. A wall-length mirror runs behind the custom maple cabinetry topped with quartz countertops, and the radiant floor heating and steam shower combine to help ease stressed, postgame muscles.
