This is what happens when you eat Chipotle for over 100 days straight

People really love Chipotle.

And now that carnitas will be back on the menu by the end of the year, it seems like there’s no stopping this chain from forever changing the fast casual landscape.

But would you eat Chipotle every day if you could?

For one Chipotle fan, the answer is an absolute yes. And after 100 plus days, he’s still going strong.

Mark Rantal, from Colorado Springs, who's been eating lunch at Chipotle for the last 105 days, started this experiment a whim.

“The whole thing was totally an accident. On Monday I decided to get Chipotle and on Tuesday I made the same decision, then got lunch with my friend there on Wednesday,” Rantal told ABC News last Friday. “We laughed about it at lunch and he asked how long I thought I could go. And that began the thought.”

Rantal made it through the first week, then a month, and he continued on because it was “very easy.”

“Every time I hit a milestone it was very easy and convenient to imagine hitting the next. Plus, it’s a little ridiculous.”

Chipotle has hundreds of different possible protein, vegetable and salsa combinations but Rantal is a true man of habit, ordering the same thing every time: a burrito bowl with white rice, pinto beans, fajitas, sofritas, mild salsa, corn, medium salsa, cheese and lettuce.

“For me food is one of those things as fuel instead of celebration. I’ve just never really gotten so into it,” he told ABC. “It became so convenient of you know where you’re going, you know the friendly faces of the staff, you know you enjoy the meal and you know you’re going to get the calories.”

Rantal, who says he’s become friendly enough with the staff at his regular location, estimates he’s received about one out of every 10 meals on the house.

One the 100th day of his Chipotle odyssey, July 15, Rantal hosted a Reddit AMA (which was initially taken down by Reddit but then reinstated, according to Eater) in which he admitted to having gained 14 pounds since starting his Mexican grill diet.

Right now Rantal has no plans to stop but admits that the idea of going for a full year is a bit daunting.

“The [one-year] milestone isn’t appealing enough to have to put in the effort, but there is a tiny wistful part of me that just thinks, ‘Wouldn’t it be hilarious to be the guy who ate Chipotle for a year?’ But I don’t know if I want to be that guy."
