Two heavy hitters in the food world are slugging it out over who will get to feed the winner of Saturday's epic boxing match between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather, Jr.

New York's Old Homestead Steakhouse-- known for its seasonal stunts like the $4,900 foie gras-coated Super Bowl wings-- stepped into the ring with a characteristically over-the-top but friendly wager with Gerry’s Grill, a Filipino restaurant in Artesia, California, that promised the Filipino boxer food for the rest of his life if he wins the “Fight of the Century.”

Greg Sherry, Old Homestead Steakhouse co-owner, said he'd give his pick -- Floyd Mayweather, Jr.--free steaks for life is he wins, and will be able to bring a guest whenever he visits the expensive eatery.

“This beef isn’t personal, we’re just giving Mayweather the respect an undefeated champion deserves,” said Sherry in a press release.

Further egging on Gerry’s, Old Homestead will sweeten the wager for Pacquiao. If he wins, the steakhouse will roll out the red carpet for the boxer and 25 guests with a true New York City feast, including Texas-size slabs of porterhouse, sirloin and Gotham rib steaks, classic sides of creamed spinach and hash-brown potato cakes, and creamy New York-style cheesecake.

Gerry’s Grill countered saying if Mayweather wins, they'll send its chicken pork adobo, crispy pata, pork sisig, tinomok and other menu specialties to the Big Apple—enough to feed 25 Old Homestead guests.

This may be a good-natured showdown between East and West coast restaurants but Sherry is pretty confident he’s on the right team.

“If Gerry’s Grill is so certain that Pacquiao will win, why didn’t they offer Pacquiao and Mayweather free dinner for life? Gerry’s Grill knows they’ll never have to make good because Pacquiao has no shot at winning.”

For New Yorkers looking to beef up before the epic match, Old Homestead is rolling out another splashy promotion. For just $4,700, you and your closest caveman friends can feast on 47 pounds-- one for each of Mayweather's undefeated fights-- of gourmet beef including USDA prime dry-aged porterhouse, sirloin and Gotham rib eye steaks, plus a whole seasoned prime rib.

No vegans allowed.
