Expecting? This pose will help alleviate back pain!

Text Size

Pregnancy can be a joyous and wonderful time, but with expecting comes back pain, weight gain and swelling. iMag went to famed celebrity yoga guru and now Fila Yoga Ambassador, Kristin McGee for a yoga pose tailored specifically for mommies-to-be. Check it out!

Crescent Lunge

Where it targets: This pose opens the chest and brings in happiness and good energy to you and your unborn child. It stretches the front thigh and alleviates back pain. A safe and modified lunge can also be done with your hands on yoga blocks if you need extra support.

Directions:

- From a standing position bend forward from the waist and place your hands by your feet and lunge your right knee back behind you.

- Drop the knee to the floor and release the top of the foot.

- Place your hands on your front knee to lift your torso up and then lift your arms up to the ceiling and arch back from the upper back while keeping the abdomen engaged.

Quick Tip

Workout While Working! Sit on a stability ball while working at your desk. This will strengthen your core. Try and squeeze in shoulder presses and crunches. Also, try taking the stairs instead of the elevator. Even a few flights at a time will add up quick!
