Five Minutes with Jen Garner

This a-list star and mom of two gave us the scoop on everything from what she loves to cook to her favorite moment with Ben!

We caught up with Jennifer Garner, who with Frigidaire launched the "Make Time for Change" Campaign to support Save the Children's U.S. Programs. After the event we sat down and had a good old girl chat with the actress and mother of two. Here's what she had to say!

On Motherhood

Favorite meals to cook her kids: Roasted chicken with brown rice and butternut squash and whole wheat pizza. A self proclaimed "control freak" she picks out her family's meals each week and also likes leaving out sliced veggies or fruit when her kids are hungry before dinner.

Words Jen's mom taught her to live by: Jen said her mom borrowed a lot from Ann of Green Gables and Little House on the Prairie. She also taught Jen to question things. Two favorite quotes? "Happiness is your own responsibility" and "Weeping may come in the night, but joy will come in the morning."

The difference between acting and motherhood: Jen says both are challenging in different ways. Alias (for example) prepared her for sleepless nights and while she was forced to workout for her role, she has to work hard to fit it in now. There's also never a day off from being a mom.

Fun Facts

Favorite outfit: Jeans and t-shirts

What she's reading: House on Mango Street (a recommendation from Ben's mom)

Perfect day: Some hair and make-up, time with the kids, making dinner for her family, hanging out with her girlfriends, and ending the night with a glass of wine and some time with Ben!

Ideal vacation: A place where she can walk privately with her kids.

Favorite chore: Laundry and scrubbing.

Least favorite chore: Vacuuming.

On fame: Jen wishes there were privacy laws to protect her kids.

How she wants to be remembered: As a good friend and fun person.

Quick Tip

Workout While Working! Sit on a stability ball while working at your desk. This will strengthen your core. Try and squeeze in shoulder presses and crunches. Also, try taking the stairs instead of the elevator. Even a few flights at a time will add up quick!
