VMA's Golden GirlThe VMAs is one of our favorite award shows for its unpredictable style, outrageous rock stars, and red carpet/stage moments that are sure to please, shock and awe. Beyonce, always a crowd pleaser and the golden girl of the music world, turned down the glam factor and upped the edge in this Roberto Cavalli red mini dress with a plunging neckline. While it wasn't our favorite choice (our Style Guide host always says to never go short and low cut, choose one or the other) we LOVE Beyonce for being the class act of the night and handling Kanye West's stage faux pas with grace. For detes read on.

LegendsWhile it’s often the new-to-hollywood celebs who fall short on the red carpet, it was the legends that failed to impress this year. Mo dressed down in a L'Wren Scott coat that was a bit boring albeit appropriate for her Michael Jackson dedication. Meanwhile Michael's sister Janet rocked it out to honor MJ as well in another all black ensemble that didn't impress. Finally, JLo made a date of it with hubby Marc Anthony in a Louis Vuitton pink dress and weird shimmery shrug we wished she'd left home.

Going GagaWhen it comes to fashion, there's no one in the world more outrageous than Lady Gaga who has taken style to a theatrical level. Of her three ensembles it would be difficult to decide which was the most daring- the Jean Paul Gaultier gown with coordinating Keko Hainswheeler neck brace, the red lace dress with matching mask or the blood spattered two piece that is almost indescribable. We love them all (not that we wear one of them)!

Sweet SwiftOh that poor girl! The country star won a VMA, went up to receive her award and Kanye West jumped on stage, grabbed her microphone and proclaimed to all those watching that Beyonce Knowles deserved the honor! Of course later lady Beyonce donated her talk time to Taylor and all was right again in the world of acceptance speeches. And Taylor, if you're reading know that we thought once again your dress was near perfection. In a white and silver Kaufmanfranco gown she sparkled down the red carpet and later changed into a strapless red dress with a sweetheart neckline for a sweetheart of a star. She always balances youthfullness and elegance just right. TS- you belonged up there, girlfriend!

Short and SilverThree of the hottest stars out there wore short, shimmery, silver dresses to this year's festivities - Katy Perry in The Blonds, Leighton Meester in Christian Cota, and Kristin Cavallari in unknown sequins. While we thought Katy rocked the best style, we loved Leighton's ankle boots and congratulate her on her first VMA nod! For more on why we LOVE Leighton click here.

Double TroubleThis rarely happens, this should NEVER happen - a stylist's nightmare is having her client wear the same dress to an event as another. UUH! We can relate- remember the prom, ladies? Well Pink and Shakira seemed to have a sense of humor about wearing the same Balmain number although we're sure a few fashionable heads rolled the day after!
