Hello fashionistas!

I recently hit the streets of New York City to check out what they're wearing on the Upper East Side. I definitely got a very different vibe than the crowd we met in Soho the last time we shot Street Style. The Upper East Siders were a little less eclectic and a bit more extravagant. To see exactly what I'm talking about and learn how to get the looks for less, click here. If you've already watched the videos, read on for a tip or two and for details and prices on the styles you loved.

Weatherproof Style

The day we ventured uptown was a gloomy one, so I was definitely fearful that my fellow fashionistas would be inside staying dry. Fortunately, I met two students who looked adorable. One girl had a on pair of Burberry boots that were great, but pricey! I bought a similar pair of J. Crew black wellies and added some fun argyle socks for a cute look at a fraction of the price.

J. Crew black boots $52.50 jcrew.com

Minnetonka fringe boots $75 minnetonkamoccasinshop.com

Versatility

I ran into one shopper who had on a simple black dress with a bright pink scarf and a grey cardigan. She was wearing tights and boots and looked perfect for a cold, rainy day. But she got me thinking, this dress is the type of dress I'm talking about when I say versatility! Ladies, always look for pieces that can be worn every season! I found a great black dress from Banana Republic that looks just as stylish with ballet flats as it does with boots.

J.Crew cardigan $178 jcrew.com

J. Crew scarf $50 jcrew.com

Kenneth Cole boots $189 kennethcole.com

Basics

There was nothing extraordinary about the outfit the tourist I ran into was wearing. She was wearing a black turtleneck and jeans, ballet flats and a silver trench. But she looked great! It's because she knew how to work her basics. Sometimes the simplest items are the chicest, but also the priciest. I found some great basics at great prices.

Gap turtleneck $38, Corso Como flat $130 gap.com

Accessories All Black

A really easy way to look fabulous without spending a fortune, is accessorizing an all black outfit. We all have a black turtleneck, tee shirt or button down and a black skirt or pair of pants. By adding a great pendant or a strand of beads, you can totally change your look.

Pop of Color

Another great way to work an all black ensemble is by adding a pop of color. I ran into an Upper East Side mom who looked good in a pair of black boots, leggings, tank and bomber but she needed a pop of color. By adding a pink clutch she made this fine outfit look fab! In addition to her clutch, I fell in love with her bomber! But it was Prada, and so therefore primo expenso. I chose three styles at different price points that are just as beautiful and more reasonably priced.

J. Crew tank $88, Hudson jeans $165  jcrew.com

Linea Pelle pink clutch $225  lordandtaylor.com

As always, happy shopping!
