The end of winter and beginning of spring is not marked by the groundhog, daylight savings or even the change of weather. For us it's the Oscars and for our beauty expert, Amber Milt, the pre-show is where she gets a sense of what spring will bring! Check out her red carpet rundown.

Predicting beauty trends is like the weather … not always a science.  However,  we can get an idea about what's hot and not from our favorite stars. And while some looks make the red carpet, you may want to avoid them in real life. Think back to Angelina Jolie's gothic look in 2000 - a definite don't!

This spring we have to look no further than 2010's best actress herself, Sandra Bullock. Of course as often is the case, the actress was inspired by NYC's fashion week: think perfect dewy complexions, shimmery eyes, and bold red lips. Sandra Bullock pulled this off PERFECTLY … in our minds she wins best LOOKING actress as well! 

Lottie from the MAKE UP FOR EVER team created this classic look for the Thuy Runway Show to complement the bold jewel tones of the designer’s clothes. Here’s how you can get the look:

Complexion & Cheeks:  Lottie first applied HD Invisible Cover Foundation to perfect the models’ complexion. Next, she created a contour on the cheeks using Mat Bronze #2, and then applied more bronzer high on the apple of the cheeks. The look was set with Super Matte Loose Powder #12 on the t-zone.

Eyes:  To create a sheer, shimmery gold wash on the eyes, Star Powder #920 was applied to the entire eye area starting at the lid and extending beyond the brow and temple. Pan Cake Foundation #3 was then applied to the temples to illuminate the skin. The eyes were finished with Smoky Lash Mascara on both the top and bottom lashes.

Lips:  Lottie mixed Flash Color #1 with a hint of Flash Color #17 to get a matte, blood red stained mouth. She applied the Flash Color with her finger tips to blot it onto the mouth.

While the past few years have seen longer, wavy locks, we hear that the hottest look in Hollywood is actually a throwback to the days of Greta Garbo.  Stars are literally taking it up a notch shortening their long locks to a more manageable shoulder-length look.
