There are few designers who emulate high style at affordable prices like Max Azria. His BCBG line is hip and exciting and worn by women of all ages, which is why we were thrilled to go backstage before his Spring 2012 show. We not only chatted with the designer, but got a sneak peak of the collection. Click over to take a look at some fabulous shots backstage and read about Azria's favorite looks and fashion rules.

iMag: Max - tell us a little bit about the collection.

Max Azria: It’s a very special collection, relatively aggressive with the color blocking. It is a total new inspiration – very fresh with a lot of georgette. It’s cool.

*** Georgette is a type of fabric that is very light and airy.

iMag: Is there one thing in your collection that a women needs to have?

Max Azria: A long dress with color - you will look cool, exciting, simple and fresh.

iMag: Are you still very involved in the design?

Max Azria: Sure, but my wife is the head designer now.

iMag: What type of women do you see wearing your collection year after year?

Max Azria: I try not to differentiate between the different ages – women from 16 to 66 can wear my clothes. I picture all types of women wearing my clothes. These women just have to be cool and relaxed.

iMag: You are known for wearable styles and good price points.  Why is that important to you?

Max Azria: It’s true because when I design a really nice piece I want women all over the world from different countries, ethnic backgrounds and financial statuses to be able to wear it.

iMag: Is there something a woman should never wear?

Max Azria: A woman can wear everything.

The runway was in fact filled with color-blocked silk styles that were both feminine and carefree. We loved the asymmetrical cuts, tribal patterns and mixing of bold colors and simple  silhouettes.
