Carey MulliganNominated for her role in AnEducation, the waifish actress fell stylishly short on the red carpet. The black bustier Prada style was pretty from a distance, but up close its quirky crystal flowers, forks and scissor charms as well as its lopsided length was less than Oscar worthy.
-
Cameron DiazThe Oscar presenter channeled her inner princess in a silver and sparkly stunner by Oscar De La Renta.
Tinseltown Trend: Metallic fabrics, beading, gold and silver were style staples this year.
-
Amanda SeyfriedThe young tv and movie star wore a Giorgio Armani Prive seafoam silk and sculpted gown. While we didn't hate it, the dress was a little too Cinderella for our style.
-
Anna KendrickThe Oscar newbie chose a romantic Elie Saab Couture pink, draped off-the-shoulder style. She said she never thought she'd wear pink, but we're glad she did. She looked lovely!
-
Zoe SaldanaThe Avatar star looked beautiful in her Givenchy Couture gown that came right off the runway. The beaded bodice and purple ombre ruffled skirt was pure Hollywood.
Tinseltown Trend: As we saw at the Globes and SAG Awards, many stars were ravishing in ruffles. And while we loved Zoe, read on to see who didn't wear the look as well.
-
Kate WinsletKate Winslet chose an Yves St. Laurent bustier silver style. The former Oscar winner joined the bevy of beauties who rocked the red carpet in metallics.
Tinseltown Trend: Bustiers or bust!
-
Elizabeth BanksThe Oscar presenter wore a lavender and layered chiffon Versace gown that was all about the train. While it wasn't our favorite fashion moment of the night, we love that no matter what she wears, Elizabeth always accessorize with a sense of humor.
-
Sandra BullockThe Oscar winner's lace and metallic Marchesa dress was our top pick (although some might think the actress looked a bit too much like Oscar himself in glittery gold).
-
Sarah Jessica ParkerThe always fashionable SJP appropriately presented the award for best costume design in a pale yellow, silk Chanel gown. And while the color was soft and the fabric fluid, the style was a tad too shapeless.
-
Jennifer LopezThe singer/actress was the most fashion forward on the red carpet in a silk organza Armani Prive structured style with a bustier and dramatic side train.
-
Sigourney WeaverSigourney Weaver was red hot in a one-shouldered and belted style.
Tinseltown Trend: We continue to see stars in one-shouldered dresses. This is an incredibly flattering look, ladies!
-
Rachel McAdamsThe actress fashionably floated onto the stage in an Elie Saab style from the 2010 haute couture line. McAdams looked dreamy in the pastel, printed gown made of organza and mousseline panels and pleats.
-
Maggie GyllenhaalThe best actress nominee wore a Dries Van Noten satin column in a painterly pattern. And while we thought she would have chosen something vintage, we knew she would opt for something unusual.
-
Meryl StreepThe queen of Hollywood looked gorgeous in this year's favorite red carpet color - white. The long sleeve cowl necked Chris March gown was accessorized with onyx and diamond jewelry.
-
Penelope CruzAs our style expert expected, the nominated actress opted for color for the first time since this awards season began in a burgundy Donna Karan duchess satin style.
-
Tina FeyAlmost always a style winner, Tina Fey looked great in a Michael Kors one-shouldered beaded leopard print dress.
-
Vera FarmigaVera Farmiga chose Marchesa (one of the most popular designers of the evening), but didn't win us over in her ruffled fuchsia gown.
-
Charlize TheronOne of our least favorite fashion moments, Charlize Theron opted for a two-toned Christian Dior dress in lilac satin. We didn't like how the fabric looked on her bust line.
