5 Tips to Long-Lasting Hair on Your Wedding Day

Keep your locks looking beautiful on your big day!

Every bride wants to look perfect on her big day. But when it comes to hair, it can be just as unpredictable as the weather. Luckily there is a way you can prevent your locks from getting frizzy or flat. iMag went to Jeannie Mai, celebrity stylist, makeup artist and David’s Bridal Style Council Member, on keeping your 'do looking great all night.

1. Volume, volume, volume! Use volumizer twice in your hair - first apply it to dampen your roots and then use it a second time when your hairstyle is finished to dry the roots. If your big day is surprisingly rainy or humid, don’t flip out, use volumizer spray at the root to avoid drooping or frizz.

2. Use a backcombing technique (i.e: teasing) to really lock in your hairstyle. A Mason Pierson is a great hairbrush to guarantee a perfectly teased hold.

3. Use hairspray all over, not just on the top layers. Evenly spray it all over, so that your hair doesn’t become crispy and instead, holds perfectly in place. To get the best spray, flip hair completely over, spray the roots, and use a stronger hold spray to finish. Leave bangs soft and manageable to avoid looking like a helmet head.

4. If you have thin or fine hair, be careful when applying any heavy styling products. Instead of doing more work to your hair, it will only weigh your hair down and flatten the style; so, go for lightweight products.

5. Do hair dress rehearsals with your stylist. And while you should love whatever style you choose, make sure your hair will be able to hold your dream ‘do before you make the final decision.
