Beauty Bit: Luxurious Locks

A home remedy for dry, brittle hair.

Text Size

Olive Oil is one of those magical substances that’s ideal for almost everything – your diet, skin, hands, nails and most of all, your hair! Olive oil is absorbed quickly and therefore helps lock in moisture. The high percentage of unsaturated fat and vitamins A and E, help smooth and replenish dry, over processed strands.  We asked celeb stylist Mario Russo for a great at home recipe.

Mario Russo’s At Home Olive Oil Recipe:

For brittle or over processed hair, Boston hair stylist, Mario Russo, recommends rinsing your hair after a shampoo with a solution of olive oil and egg.

Step 1- Mix one beaten egg with 1/2 to 3/4 cup of olive oil.

Step 2- Leave on for 30 minutes, covered with a plastic cap.

Step 3- Shampoo and condition your hair and voila!

Mario suggests weekly or monthly treatments, depending on the condition of your tresses.

Beauty Quick Tip

Too Much Sun: July is Melanoma awareness month and when it comes to skin cancer, there’s no such thing as “too much sun”.  Any amount of sun puts you at risk.  So spafinder has created a bracelet that will turn colors when you’ve been exposed to too many harmful rays.  With a sliver plate that says “I Will Reflect”, the bracelet serves as a fun reminder to apply and re-apply sunscreen, or to get out of the sun altogether.
