The Power of PurpleAs it does every year, Benjamin Moore has released a series of hues that will dominate home décor for the next 12 months. And when it comes to color trends for 2011, purple has the punch. While there are of course a wide range of purples available, Vintage Wine 2116-20 is the one to watch for, says Sonu Mathew, ASID, the company's senior interior designer. “It is an anchoring and rich hue with a deep brown base and a hint of smoky violet. Vintage Wine is the perfect foil for the latest wood finishes, leathers, linens and other textiles."

And if you’re not ready to repaint your walls, we have some ways to incorporate these new colors into your home without spending a ton of time or money. -
SoulfulInspired by a global, ethnic aesthetic, the soulful palette emphasizes the mixing of patterns, beading and embroidery.

Soulful-Inspired InteriorsFor the globetrotter in all of us, the soulful palette brings the world to the bedroom. Elements of mixed patterns and intricate stitching and embroidery evoke international design themes. And of course we couldn’t exclude a roomy, yet stylish canvas bag for any and all travel needs!

SpiritedTo lift your spirits, especially during winter months, there’s no better solution than to pump up the color. Bright, geometric shapes offset by charcoals and grays create a balanced, yet bright color scheme.

Spirited-Inspired InteriorsWhen working with bright colors, it’s important to incorporate a consistent, anchor color, like the deep gray in the Wisteria pillow, which is similar to Benjamin Moore’s Wrought Iron. While brights can bring up the mood, they can become too stressful without organization.

Dreamy-Inspired InteriorsCreate a casual, yet sophisticated oasis with muted hues and sheer materials. Add pops of bold color, like these knobs from Anthropologie, to tie the room together. Too many translucent and soft pastels can get lost on each other without small statements of strength throughout the design.
