7 Tips for Throwing an Awesome Super Bowl Party

Take your Super Bowl party to the next level!

Whether or not you care who wins this year's Super Bowl, the big game is always a fun excuse to get together with friends and eat a lot of junk food. Buffalo wings, beer … million-dollar TV commercials – it’s a day when you can forget about work, forget about your diet and depending upon the team you're rooting for – relax and have a good time. But what if you’re hosting a Super Bowl bash? Here are some tips to ensure your guests have a good time, and you’re not left with a ton of cleanup to tackle.

1. Provide ample seating.
Nobody wants to stand up throughout the entire game. Make sure you provide enough seating for all of your guests, plus a few more seats (you never know who might show up).

2. Have the game on in different rooms.
Create different social experiences in your home by putting the game on in different rooms. That way, if there are people who are less interested in the game, they can congregate away from those who are focused on each play.

3. Serve an array of healthy and indulgent snacks.
We all love to pig out on Super Bowl Sunday, but make sure there are at least some healthy options. Check out some of our favorite recipes here:

4. Use paper plates and utensils to make cleanup easier.
Make sure your paper plates are strong enough for people to eat on their laps. And don't forget to put napkins all over the place so people can grab them after nachos and wings.

5. Serve themed food.
Given that New England is playing New York, why not have some fun with what you're serving? Challenge people to bring their own versions of chowder (New England or Manhattan), based on their team preference, and have guests vote blindly on whose is best.

6. Play games.
Pass out cards and have people rate the Super Bowl commercials as they come on. During half time and after the game you can see which ads were the favorites, and which flopped.

7. Be responsible
Keep in mind that your guests will likely be driving home after the game. With a 6:30p kickoff, the game could go on late into the evening. Stop serving alcohol before the game is over and serve coffee to help prevent fatigue. Click here for more information on making sure your guests get home safely.
