A 12-year-old girl looking for a distraction from her hospital stay posted a plea for pizza in her room’s window, not knowing it would lead to new friendships with a nearby fraternity.

Lexi Brown, who is battling cancer and heart disease, was hospitalized at the Mattel Children’s Hospital UCLA in California, Fox 26 Houston reported. The hospital is located next to the University of California Los Angeles campus and the school’s fraternity and sorority houses.

The UCLA chapter of Sigma Alpha Epsilon saw her sign for pizza, and showed up with much more, Fox 26 Houston reported. The SAE brothers visited the hospital bearing cards, toys, flowers and music.

Before Brown was discharged, the fraternity even wrote her name out in Christmas lights on their roof so that she could see it from her window.

They plan to keep the display lit in her honor as she continues her battle at home.
