A Pennsylvania company says bagged red apple slices voluntarily recalled last week may have been distributed in a Florida school district.

Appeeling Fruit Inc. recalled the Snack Fresh brand slices due to potential listeria contamination.

According to a statement from the Dauberville, Pennsylvania-based company, the Palm Beach County School District was notified Sept. 9. The company says the vast majority of the recalled snacks were destroyed, but a small percentage still may have been distributed.

President Steve Cygan says the district promptly notified individual schools about the recall. District director of school food service Allison Monbleau says none of the products remain in the schools.

The recalled 2.oz bagged snacks have a best-if-used-by date of Sept. 21, a UPC code of 74641 00982 and a production date stamp of 310815.
