The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates that one in six Americans suffer from foodborne illness each year.

Undercooked or contaminated meats are often to blame, but new technology is helping people stay healthy.

The iDevices Kitchen Thermometer Mini can help take the stress out of cooking a variety of meats. Users first download the thermometer app, which is preloaded with a list of temperature safety settings. When food is being cooked, the temperature probe and thermometer sync to the app via Bluetooth technology. Users receive an alert on their smartphone when their meal has reached a temperature that is safe to eat.

The app also includes recipes and allows for easy connections to social networking sites to share pictures and ideas.
