Some of the people sickened in a salmonella outbreak last October ate at Taco Bell, but the restaurant chain's parent company says the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention believes the source of the outbreak was "at the supplier level."

"The CDC has stated the public health is not at any risk, and this incident is completely over," according to the statement by Yum Brand Inc. "They have not identified the food source of the food borne illness that occurred in October and November of 2011. They believe that the problem likely occurred at the supplier level before it was delivered to any restaurant or food outlet."

The cluster of illness from salmonella enteritidis infections is believed to have begun in mid-October and ended by the time CDC issued its final report.

Illnesses were reported in Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Iowa, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, Ohio and Tennessee.

CDC said 31 percent of patients were hospitalized. No deaths were reported.
