At Clarke's on Miami Beach, a “glammed” up Irish bar, the bar staff created an unholy merger of Italy, Ireland and France, mixing up Irish Whiskey, Italian vermouth and sweet orange liqueur from France, all topped off with good American bitters. Luckily, evil on this scale can often feel all too good, so the Irish Complex works nicely, the vermouth and orange liqueur mellowing the spice and warmth of the whiskey and creating a decidedly smooth twist on a Manhattan. A truly sophisticated tipple for a day that could certainly use some sophistication.
- 1.5 Oz. Bushmill's Irish Whiskey
- .5 Oz. Mandarine Napoleon orange liqueur
- .5 Oz. Carpano Antica
- 3 dashes Fee Brothers Cherry Bitters
- Combine all the ingredients in a shaker full of ice and shake as if your shot at a pot of gold depends on it. Once frosty, strain the drink into a cocktail glass and marvel at what the real luck of the Irish can bring you.
