Ivan Mitankin at New York City's Vintry Wine & Whiskey adapted this winter tipple from the “Savoy Cocktail Book,” creating a smoothly sophisticated drink that combines the best qualities of whiskey and citrus. The caramel notes of the Scotch bring a sweet balance to the silk-like texture of the Orgeat and change the character of the malt just enough to match up perfectly with the fresh lemon.
- 2 Oz Speyburn 10 year Single Malt Scotch Whiskey
- 3/4 Oz fresh lemon juice
- 1/2 Oz Orgeat
- Freshly grated nutmeg
- Add all the ingredients except the nutmeg to a shaker full of ice. Then shake vigorously and serve in a large rocks glass over ice. Garnish the mix with freshly grated nutmeg and a lemon wedge. Then kick back and watch the snow-covered city.
