The beginning of the end is near.
At least that’s what the Internet is crying out with the announcement that Burger King is making a burrito version of its signature Whopper.
Over the weekend, Grub Grade, spotted a sign advertising the new fast food mashup outside several Burger King locations in Pennsylvania. The burger chain is calling the creation a “Whopperito.”
We’ll admit that we liked Burger King’s Whopper Dog, which basically added all the usual Whopper accoutrement to a hot dog but do those flavors really translate in a flour tortilla?
The Whopperito appears to use slices of Burger King’s flame-grilled beef, melted cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, mayo, ketchup, pickles, and white onions rolled up into a tortilla. We’re guessing you can also have it your way, if so desired.
But what does it really taste like?
A Grub Grade commenter posted, "It has spicy cheese sauce instead of actual cheese. The whole thing is too 'wet'—the cheese sauce mixed with the vegetables ... is a lot of moisture. The proportion of burger to the rest of the ingredients is way off and the cheese sauce is too spicy. And it’s hard to get all of the ingredients in one bite. I won’t order it again."
For true Burger King, devotees, the Whopperito is just more to love featuring the chain’s signature flavors and they can’t wait to get their mouths on it.
Some are confused.
Others are straight up horrified.
We’ve reached out to Burger King to see if and when the new item will become a national treasure—or is destined to go the way of the McPizza.
