Australian brewers made a beer from belly button lint

Would you drink beer brewed from a body?

We’ve heard of beer bellies…but beer made from the fluff found in your belly button? That seems a bit far-fetched. But it’s a real project that’s come to fruition for the 7-Cent Brewery, a microbrewery in Melbourne, Australia

Their wacky beer creation is apparently totally drinkable and made from the yeast naturally found in belly button fluff.

“Some say why? We say why not?” a blog post on the brewer's website says. “We are really interested to see if the idea of drinking something that originated from a brewer's belly button is too much for even the most hardened beer geek.”

Brewery founder Doug Bremner said they were inspired by an Oregon Brewery that created beer made from beard hair.

So does this creation taste gnarly? According to its creators, you wouldn’t even know the difference. It’s described as a “new world-ish Belgian-ish Witbier with fresh orange zest and toasted coriander seeds.”

As Bremner says, yeast is yeast, no matter where it comes from.
