Think you know how to make a sandwich? Think again. Andy George, who hosts the "How to Make Everything" YouTube channel, has just posted his latest episode on YouTube showing that to make a chicken sandwich completely from scratch is, at least for him, a six-month, $1,500 endeavor.
He lays forth his efforts in 16 handy steps, reports Eater, and it turns out that it's not just about growing veggies and making bread.
The steps also include milking a cow to make cheese, killing a chicken for the, well, chicken, and pickling cucumbers. He even makes salt from ocean water.
The real kicker, though, is that George doesn't exactly seem thrilled about the end product, reports UPI. "It's not bad," he says on camera as he chews and mulls over his first bite.
"That's about it." Then he pauses, and reflects: "Six months of my life were ... not bad. Yeah." Then he fiddles with his glasses, drops his head, and laughs.
So there you have it. If you're a die-hard DIYer, you can decide for yourself whether the end justifies the means. (Meanwhile, Mr. T is in the DIY business with his new show, I Pity the Tool.)
