Forget the chocolate eggs.   Now, just in time for Easter, there’s a sweet cinnamon flavored Cheetos that doesn’t turn your fingers a bright neon orange.

Frito-Lay's Cheetos just released the brand’s first sweet snack in its 67-year history.  The limited-time treat is packaged in festive Easter-themed colors and creates an alternative in the Easter candy aisle dominated by jelly beans and chocolate rabbits.   A 7-ounce bag of Sweetos will sell for $3.49 a bag, and company says it hopes to attract millennials who want something sweet but not too sweet.

Sweetos comes after successful attempts by Frito-Lay to launch sweet versions of its popular savory snack, such as Lays Wavy Potato Chips Dipped in Milk Chocolate.

So how do they taste?  After opening the bag, we were hit by a fake butter smell, which turned us off a bit.  But we were pretty pleased with the texture of the brown, speckled ovals, which is the same as Cheetos Puffs –light and airy with a nice crunch.   The puffs taste like an intense cinnamon toast; sweet -- and dare we say -- maybe a little too sweet for us.

As far as Cheetos’ signature dust –it’s still there, but instead of orange, it’s a light brown color –and definitely worth licking off your fingers. But we'd still opt for the orange dust any day.
