Just about everyone has had that moment, following a night of drinking, in which they view the bar tab and think, “How did I spend all that?” Well, this list should offer some solace to those in the drunken state of confusion about how they racked up such an enormous bill. These bankers, celebrities and moguls managed to spend more than the cost of a home on their one-night benders. If you felt guilty about your hefty bar tab this weekend, remember that at least you didn’t literally drop a small fortune on booze. Although, it’s hard not to envy their ability to throw down an easy $200k on cocktails.
1. $310,696: Alex Hope at PlayGround
If you didn’t know the name Alex Hope before, you may want to remember it now. This twenty-something investment banker looked like a good guy to befriend. Last year, Hope reportedly dropped over $300k on one night of drinking at the Liverpool nightclub, Playground in the U.K. Surrounded by friends, a handful of British soccer stars and some television personalities, Hope spent an average of $100k an hour for a night of fun. Maybe it's no surprise that he was later arrested for for unauthorized trading.
2. $256,111: Don Johnson at One4One Nightclub
The blackjack mastermind with the unfortunate name of Don Johnson, reportedly spent a whopping $256k at London's ritzy One4One Nightclub two summers ago. During his weekend bender, Johnson was said to have soaked club-goers with a 30-liter jug of Armand De Brignac Midas champagne, which went for $192,036.
3. $250,00: Jay-Z at Miami Nightclub
Hip hop mogul and rapper, Jay-Z reportedly dropped a whopping $250k on champagne at a Miami nightclub following the release of his album “Watch the Throne.”
“He bought bottle after bottle of Ace of Spades,” a patron told Radar Online about the pricey champagne that goes for a minimum of $200 a bottle. “And then (he) went all out with the 15-liter bottle that cost $100,000 on its own!”
4. $184,423: Dexter Koh at Aura Nightclub in London
Gambler and self-proclaimed real-life “Fifty Shades of Grey” character, Dexter Koh, reportedly dropped $184k on drinks at a London nightclub last December. The 30-year-old poker player tweeted that night that he was celebrating a six figure win at a poker table.
5. $171,937: LeBron James’s Alleged Tab from Las Vegas’s XS Nightclub at the Encore Hotel
An anonymous Las Vegas tipster published a photo of they said was LeBron James' $171,937.53 bar tab from a party at the XS Nightclub at the Encore Hotel. James' rep didn't confirm or deny the purported tab. The bill included 33 bottles of Cristal, totaling $59,400.
6. $156,679: Boston Bruins at MGM Grand in Mashantucket, Conn.
When the Boston Bruins won the Stanley Cup in 2011, the team went all out. They reportedly racked up an impressive $156,679.74 bar bill at the MGM Grand in Mashantucket, Conn. The most expensive item on the bill: a $100k bottle of Ace of Spades Midas Champagne.
7. $136,000: A Six-Liter Bottle of Champagne in Dubai Nightclub
Just over a year ago, a mysterious Saudi national reportedly entered a bar in Dubai and ordered a $136k bottle of champagne, in fluent French. The staff described him as a “well educated gentleman.” Who he is and just what he was celebrating still remains unknown.
8. $135,000: Mystery Zefron Fan at Boardroom in Chicago
In June of 2011, Heather Graham and Zac Efron reportedly were spotted drinking with a mysterious Russian billionaire and avid fan at Chicago’s Boardroom nightclub. The final bill included more than $100k worth of champagne. The celebrities reportedly spent more than three hours with the fan, drinking champagne and chatting.
9. $110,000: Mark Cuban at Club Liv at Miami's Fontainebleau hotel
After the Dallas Mavericks beat the Miami Heat to win the 2011 NBA Championship, Mavericks owner Mark Cuban reportedly dropped $110k in four hours during celebrations at Club Liv in Miami. The majority of the bill was on a $90,000 bottle of Armand de Brignac, which Cuban bought for the players.
10. $108K: New Years Eve celebration at Cavalli Club, Dubai, UAE
If you're going to ring in the New Year and celebrate a birthday, you better do it in style. A group of revelers at the Cavalli Club in Dubai's ultra-swank in the Fairmont Hotel reportedly racked up a tab totaling 108K in just two hours. On the bill included a bottle of Cristal Champagne for $34k, one three-liter Cavalli vodka at $1,347.70 and 24 Diet Cokes that cost $144.
