Fall is the best time for picking and cooking with fresh apples. Use up your supply with these two delicious sweet apple treats!

Prep Time: 15 minutes

Cook Time: Bars, 30-45 minutes

Dumplings, 20-25 minutes

Serves: 4-8

Apple Crumble Bars

Ingredients:

• 1 cup flour

• ½ tsp baking soda

• ⅔ cup brown sugar

• 1 ¼ cups oatmeal

• 1 tsp cinnamon

• ½ cup butter, softened

• 2 cups diced apples

• **Optional: ½ tsp Nutmeg

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees

2. Grease 8” square pan

3. Mix together flour, baking soda, brown sugar, oatmeal, and cinnamon

4. Cut in the softened butter

5. Spread half of the flour mixture in the pan

6. Top mixture with sliced apples

7. Cover with remaining crumb mixture

8. Bake for 30-45 minutes

9. Let cool for 15 minutes before cutting into squares

Apple Dumplings

Ingredients:

• 4 Apples

• 1 sheet of frozen puff pastry, thawed

• 1 egg

• 4 tablespoons of sugar

• 1 tablespoon of cinnamon

• 1 teaspoons of nutmeg

• 1 teaspoons of ground cloves

Directions:

1. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees

2. Cut the fully thawed puff pastry into four squares

3. Cut a hole in the center of each piece of pastry, where the apple stem would be

4. Stretch the pastry over each apple, centering the hole on the stem of the apple, and close the pastry around the bottom of the apple by pinching the dough together

5. In a bowl, mix together an egg and a tablespoon of water- this creates an egg wash

6. Brush the egg wash over the pastry apple.

7. In a bowl mix together the sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves.

8. Roll each pastry covered apple in the spice mix

9. Place the apples on a parchment paper lined baking sheet (or aluminum foil) and bake for 20-25 minutes

10. Serve immediately after removing from oven
