FAQ

Who may enter the sweepstakes?

Any legal resident of the 50 United States, including Washington DC, who is at least 18 years of age, attending a four year undergraduate college and university (which offers Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degrees in communications, broadcast journalism, journalism or their equivalent) , and has risen to the level of Junior or Senior at the time of entry.

 

When is the contest?

The contest sign up begins on January 7, 2013 and ends on February 8, 2013. All pieces must be submitted by Friday, March 8, 2013 (electronically) or postmarked by by Friday, March 15, 2013.

 

How do I enter?

You may enter the contest by logging onto our website at www.foxnews.com/collegechallenge. Complete the entry form with all required information and submit the entry so that it is received by 11:59 pm ET on Feburary 8, 2013.

 

How can I submit my news piece?

You can electronically submit a video news package from the list of suggested topics available or on a news topic of your choosing via the collegechallenge webpage no later than March 8, 2013. In the event you cannot upload your entry to the website you may, in the alternative, send your submission on a tape or disc (see below for acceptable formats and address) which must be post marked by no later than March 15, 2013.

All tapes/discs should be sent to: FOX News Channel, 1211 Avenue of the Americas New York, NY 10036, Attn: HR Department.

Two separate copies of the entries must be submitted on VHS, Betacam or Betacam SP, or DVD in the following two (2) formats: One (1) tape/disc (not for screening by Judges) - format must include the following: (a) a :05 second slate containing the title, school name, student name(s) and total running time (TRT); and (b) the accompanying tape/disc package must be clearly labeled with the title of the news piece, school name and student names. The length of the slate will not be included in the length of the overall piece.

No other identifying names, logos, etc., should appear anywhere on, or within the news piece with this second tape or disc.

 

What is the prize?

The winning team will receive a $10,000 scholarship, to be divided equally among team members, payable by FOX News Channel company check(s). Members of the winning team, who are junior, undergraduate students and attending classes in the fall of 2013 as seniors, are eligible for an unpaid, summer 2013 internship with Fox News Network, provided they satisfy all standard internship requirements per FOX News policies.

Members of the winning team who are seniors will be invited to interview for an entry level position with the Fox News Network, L.L.C. The winning Broadcast Journalism department, or the equivalent department depending on the specific college or university, will receive $10,000 to use towards scholarships, grants or new equipment.

 

Can my school be mentioned in the piece?

There shall be no mention of the students' names or the college or university they attend anywhere within the news piece. There shall also be no use of college or university logos or mascots within the news piece.

 

How will I know if I've won?

After the Contest has concluded, the winners will be published on the Website. A list of winners may also be obtained by sending a self-addressed stamped envelope by June 1, 2013 to FOX News Channel, Winners List Request, 1211 Avenue of the Americas, New York, New York 10036 Attention: Legal Department.
