College of Communications

An elite opportunity for any serious J-student who wants to be a reporter, anchor, producer, writer, booker or news executive. You will be guided by TV, radio and web news professionals on all levels and exposed to top talent.

About the Majors

We offer TV and Radio News internship opportunities in all dayparts and formats: morning shows, breaking news, primetime programming, business news, politics, health, and entertainment. Interns can be in the control rooms for live news events, pitch stories in editorial meetings, meet and greet on-air guest, accompany reporters in the field, assist with research, practice writing, search for video, audio and more. If you specifically want to build your multi-media portfolio, all of our web properties seek interns who want to learn how to research, write, edit and blog for this medium. We want journalism interns who are newshounds, obsess over current events and want to work in a dynamic 24-hour environment.

Do you have on-air ambitions? Are you the face of your campus TV station?  If so, here is your chance to become an FNCU Reporter -- a unique position to hone your on-air reporting and anchoring skills.  With this internship you will become involved in all aspects of producing and reporting stories.  Past FNCU Reporters have covered politics, sports, technology, fashion, entertainment, business, travel, and much more.

Are you the editor of your school paper and want to take your journalism and leadership skills to the next level?  If so, this internship is your chance to make a statement on the FNCU webpage. Work closely with fellow interns to assign stories, give editorial guidance and edit articles/blogs. You can also pitch/write your own stories, take photos, create intern polls, and even get some television experience ... the FNCU opportunities are endless for the serious minded journalism student.
