Olivia Wilde on Why Being Photographed Breast-Feeding is ‘Perfect’

Olivia Wilde doesn’t care what you think. PHOTO: Olivia Wilde's Barely-There Baby Bump For the September 2014 issue of Glamour magazine, the 30-year-old actress made a bold statement by being photographed breast-feeding her 3-month-old baby boy Otis. (Sure, she was wearing a glitzy Robert Cavalli gown and towering Prada heels, but we all know what you're really looking at.) But, as it turns out, the first-time mother doesn’t mind sharing this intimate moment in front of cameras. “Being shot with Otis is so perfect because any portrait of me right now isn’t complete without my identity as a mother being a part of that,” explains Wilde to the publication. “Breast-feeding is the most natural thing. I don’t know, now it feels like Otis should always be on my breast. It felt like we were capturing that multifaceted woman we’ve been discussing — that we know we can be.” While some readers may be shocked by the photograph, Wilde believes she’s merely expressing herself like any other proud mother — except she doesn’t always look this put-together. And there’s usually a diaper involved.” And in case you’re wondering, Wilde doesn't stress about being a working mother, and she thanks her mother for keeping her in check. “My mom is such a bad-ass working mother," WIlde said. "That inspired me when I was pregnant. I wasn’t going to sacrifice myself because I was becoming a mother.” READ: Corsets, Algae and Placenta Pills? How the Stars REALLY Lose the Baby Weight Wilde and her beau, comedic actor Jason Sudekis, welcomed Otis Alexander Sudeikis on April 20. US Weekly is reporting that the couple first revealed they were expecting back in October, and began dating in December 2011. They announced their engagement January 2013. However, don’t expect Wilde rush down the aisle anytime soon. “We’re engaged, but no specific plans yet — we just have to find the time to put it together,” says Wilde. “In many ways, a child is more of a commitment. We are fully committed and really happy as a family. And there’s no definition of the ‘normal family’ anymore. Kids today are growing up with so many different definitions of family. I guess what I’m saying is that I don’t feel any pressure to do it. But I think it will be really fun.” Glamour’s September issue hits newsstands August 12, and is available now digitally.
