Pregnancy can bring out strange food cravings in some expectant mothers and celebrities are not immune to the dietary desires that range from delicious to disgusting. Blame it on the hormones. "There are certain hormonal changes that influence the metabolism of a pregnant woman," explains Manny Alvarez, M.D. "Those hormonal changes can make certain foods less appetizing and others more so." Alvarez adds that "there are cravings that are predicated on nutritional deficiencies, but most of the cravings are due to the hormonal changes of estrogen and progesterone, which will alter your appetite or your sense of liking something."
