Some stars know what it takes to look amazing on the red carpet while others still need a lesson.

Emmy Fashion

The 64th Annual Emmy Awards brought all of the biggest stars in television to the Nokia theater in Los Angeles on Sept. 23.

Check out who took risks that worked and who should fire their stylist.

Ed O'Neil: So Hot

His show "Modern Family" has already won several awards at the 64th Primetime Emmys. Ed takes the prize for choosing a silver tie when most men at the awards stuck with black.

Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman: So Ehhh

While Keith looks dapper, Nicole had an odd choice in dress.

Zooey Deschanel: So Cute

The "New Girl" star keeps it simple and adorable in a baby blue princess gown.

Sofia Vergara: Beyond Hot

Sofia can wear anything and look amazing. Especially when it's form-fitting, shiny and makes her look like a mermaid.

Jon Hamm: So Hot

The dapper Mr. Draper from "Mad Men" could have probably worn a t-shirt and still made it on the hot list.

Julianne Moore: So Not

Whoever told Julianne that this color worked for her needs to get their eyes checked.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus: So Hot

Julia took home the award for best actress for her role in "Veep." Her dress was pretty hot too.

Claire Danes: So Not

The "Homeland" star went a bit overboard trying to cover up her baby bump.

Kerry Washington: So Hot

The actress sparkled in a Vivienne Westwood gown.

Julianna Marguiles: So Not

The actress said this dress was the first one she tried on... She really should have kept looking.

Kristen Wiig: So Hot

She may have missed out on the award for best actress, but Kristen knocked it out of the park with her ivory dress.

Bryan Cranston: So Hot

It's great to know he's doing some last minute fixes to make sure his bow tie is on straight.

Christina Hendricks: So Hot

As always, her best assets are on display.

Amy Poehler: So Hot

The "Parks & Recreation" star went with a simple, yet shiny black gown.

Kathy Griffin: So Not

Black is not a good color if you have red hair and pale translucent skin.

Archie Panjabi: So Not

Archie looks like she just stepped out of a '90s prom.

Julia Ormond: So Not

It's sweltering outside in LA, but that didn't stop Julia from wearing a sweater dress.

Emily VanCamp: So Hot

The "Revenge" star said that she always chooses dresses that are comfortable. Luckily for her, comfort never looked this good.

Leslie Mann: So Hot

The funny actress walked the carpet with hubby Judd Apatow who produces the HBO nominated show "Girls."

Elisabeth Moss: So Not

The actress is nominated for her work on "Mad Men" for the fourth time! She is NOT nominated for her patterned mess.

Julianne Hough: So Not

Julianne admitted that beau Ryan Seacrest said that she should wear her hair differently. We couldn't agree more. The dress is just okay.

January Jones: So Not

The "Mad Men" star looks scary in this black puffy dress with her hair slicked back.

Glenn Close: So Not

The actress is nominated again for outstanding lead actress in "Damages," an award she took home in 2009. So it's hard to comment on her poor choice in wardrobe, but how can you not?

Edie Falco: So Not

The actress, who is nominated again for her starring role in "Nurse Jackie" went for a futuristic looking gown.

Hayden Panettiere: So Not

Oh, Hayden... This Marchesa toga does not work - at all.

Heidi Klum: So Hot

This is the first awards show Heidi has had to attend since splitting from Seal earlier this year so she clearly ramped up the sex appeal.

Christine Baranski: So Hot

At a certain age, teeny mini skirts should be retired. Christine is 60.

Amanda Peet: So Not

The 40-year-old actress looks washed out and stuck in the '90s with her headband and light colored frock.

Maria Menounos: So Not

The TV host didn't get the memo that high slits are so last year.

Kelly Osbourne: So Ehhh

Ozzy Osbourne's daughter looks amazingly svelte in this lilac dress, we just wish it didn't match her hair color.

Ariel Winter: So Hot

The "Modern Family" starlet is dressed very age appropriately - she's 14 - and looks adorable.

Nancy O'Dell: So Not

Nancy is a few weeks early for a Halloween party in this action hero looking gown.

Padma Lakshmi: So Hot

The "Top Chef" host looks stunning in this form fitting Monique Lhuillier gown.

Jessica Pare: So Hot

The "Mad Men" star looks like she just walked off her chic set in this white number.

Kat Dennings: So Hot

The "Broke Girls" star explained on the carpet that she'll be slouching all night in the hope of not "spilling out" of her dress.

Jesse Tyler Ferguson: So Hot

The "Modern Family" star, who is up for the Emmy tonight, rocked a bow tie that he designed himself for Tie the Knot.

Mayim Bialik: So Not

The former "Blossom" star is nominated for her hilarious role on "The Big Bang Theory."

But she won't be nominated for any fashion awards.

Ginnifer Goodwin: So Hot

The "Big Love" star looks gorgeous in Monique Lhullier.

Jena Malone: So Not

What is this dress? It looks like swatches of fabric just thrown together.

"The Hunger Games" star should know better.

Jane Levy: So Not

The "Suburgatory" star chose a great color for the carpet, but she looks way too uncomfortable in her own skin.
