Sept. 22, 2010: Singer Jennifer López appears on stage at a press conference to officially announce the judges for the 10th season of American Idol at The Forum stadium in Inglewood, Calif.
The conference aired on Jan. 19, 2011 the first day of Idol on FOX. "I decided to become a judge because you can take somebody and totally change their life," López said.
Jan. 20, 2011: Cuban singer Jovany Barreto tries out to be on American Idol in the Louisiana auditions. When dared by a few colleagues to show López his fit physique, Barreto, who sang Luis Miguel's song "Contigo en la distancia," couldn't resist.
"A couple of guys from the shipyard they said 'Look, we bet you a million bucks you won't take that shirt off in front of Jennifer López,'" Barreto said. "So, Jennifer watch out! You're going to see some abs."
Jan. 26, 2011: Illinois native Chris Medina, auditions on American Idol for a chance to make it to Hollywood. Medina dedicated his audition to his fiancée, Juliana Ramos, who suffered a traumatic brain injury two months prior to their wedding day.
Feb. 03, 2011: Mark and Aaron Gutiérrez perform a duet, their rendition of Bill Withers' 1972 jam "Lean on Me." The Mexican-American brothers wowed the judges, especially Steven Tyler, who called their singing "God-like." Jennifer López said: "It was really beautiful."
Feb. 23, 2011: Jennifer López breaks down in tears as she eliminates American Idol contestant Chris Medina, informing him he did not make the 'Top 24.'
March 02, 2011: American Idol contestant Karen Rodríguez sings "Hero" by Mariah Carey in English and Spanish during the 'Top 12 Girls' auditions. "That says it all," said Jennifer López pointing at her goose bumps after Rodríguez's performance.
"I loved that you changed from English to Spanish and showed who you are and what your flavor is," López added.
March 30, 2011: American Idol contender Stefano Langone, who said after his elimination that he was half Mexican, ends his performance of Elton John's 1971 tune "Tiny Dancer" by tenderly looking at Jennifer López.
May 04, 2011: Country singer Scotty McCreery, who has Puerto Rican roots, introduced his paternal grandmother, who beamed with joy. "He is my Scotty," she said as she proudly looked at McCreery.
May 05, 2011: Jennifer López, teaming with Pitbull, performs her new single "On the Floor" from her latest album "Love?" The singer also teased to her latest music video "I'm Into You," in which Telenovela hunk William Levy plays her love interest.
May 12, 2011: Enrique Iglesias performs the TV premiere of his new single "Dirty Dancer," a studio collaboration with Usher. The Spanish heartthrob was ecstatic to be on the show, yelling at one point, "You're amazing, American Idol!"
These Latinos made us laugh and cry, and entertained us from Day One of the 10th season of American Idol.
