Kathy Griffin to the ‘Melanie’ Trump: 'F--- you’
After first lady Melania Trump released a statement about the immigration controversy where kids are being separated from their parents at the southern border, comedian Kathy Griffin took to Twitter to unload on Trump.
Kathy Griffin isn’t a stranger to controversy in her career. The self-proclaimed D-List actress has alienated some with her strong verbiage and wild antics throughout the years. Here are just some of her most outrageous moments:
Decrying Jesus at the Emmys
In 2007 she was presented with an Emmy for Outstanding Reality Program. The comedian had to be censored during the telecast when she blurted out, “I want you to know that no one had less to do with this award than Jesus,” she said. “He didn’t help me a bit, if it was up to him Cesar Milan would be up here with that damn dog.” Griffin added, “So, all I can say is, ‘Suck it, Jesus.’ This award is my God now.”
Stripping down to her undergarments on live TV
Griffin went nearly nude during her 2012 New Year’s broadcast with co-host Anderson Cooper. The comedian credited Lady Gaga for inspiring her to bare it all, but Cooper wanted no part of her hijinks and held up a “No Nudity” sign while Griffin pleaded that she wasn’t actually nude and called the network a “big square who won’t let me have any fun.”
Simulating oral sex on Anderson Cooper
Griffin’s 2013 New Year’s Eve coverage was full of surprises, and the liberal comic made waves when she simulated oral sex on her co-host Anderson Cooper. During the broadcast, while Cooper was conversing with correspondent Gary Tuchman who was reporting from Eastport, Maine, Tuchman referenced a town tradition where the locals kiss an eight-foot sardine sculpture.
The camera then cut to Cooper and Griffin and caught the Emmy Award-winner with her face in Cooper’s crotch.
A visibly shocked Cooper asked Griffin, "Did you drop something?”
“No, I was kissing your sardine,” she replied.
Griffin continued her awkward remarks towards Cooper saying, “I can do this all night long," as Cooper grabbed Griffin and tried to pull her to her feet.
Posing with a fake severed Donald Trump head
In May 2017 Griffin made headlines when she posed with a fake severed head meant to look like Trump. The gory photo immediately drew outrage on social media. President Trump called the photo "sick" and said Griffin “should be ashamed of herself.” Griffin posted an apology video in which she admitted she “went too far.” However, she has since said she regrets saying sorry and repeatedly took back the apology.
Dropping the F-bomb on “The View”
It had only been a year since Griffin’s infamous photo, but the outspoken comedian was ready to voice her disdain for the president yet again in April.
“Yeah, I take the apology back,” she told the hosts. “F--- him. And Don Jr. and Eric, or as I call them Eddie Munster and Date Rape. I’m not holding back on this family. This president is different and I have been through the mill and so now I’m back on the road. I sold out Carnegie Hall in less than 24 hours.”
Griffin dropped the F-bomb numerous times and when asked if she went too far in her public shaming of Trump, she said, “No, not now. Not when I see his policies. Also, it was a mask and ketchup, I wish I would’ve done a blow up doll. I probably could have gotten away with the whole thing with a blow up doll.”
Slamming Melania Trump in profane rant
After the first lady weighed in on her husband’s immigration policy in June, Griffin reacted to the statement with intense vitriol in a profanity-filled tweet aimed directly at the first lady.
The first lady had said via her spokesperson: “Mrs. Trump hates to see children separated from their families & hopes both sides of the aisle can finally come together to achieve successful immigration reform. She believes we need to be a country that follows all laws but also a country that governs [with] heart."
Griffin then tweeted: “F--- you, Melanie [sic]. You know damn well your husband can end this immediately...you feckless complicit piece of s---.”
