HGTV star Joanna Gaines revealed behind-the-scenes details of her "crazy" and snowy magazine cover photoshoot.

The "Fixer Upper" star appeared on the winter edition of "The Magnolia Journal," a magazine created by her and husband Chip. The HGTV designer was snapped wearing a long dress standing in a snowy forest in Lake Tahoe. Gaines revealed the shoot was chaotic due to cold temperatures, lack of time and a gown that made it hard for her to fit into places.

“Seeing it now, on the cover, I think I look graceful. I look like, ‘Oh, it’s just another day in the woods with snow.’ But I was actually slowly sinking, and couldn’t feel my toes,” Gaines told WSMV Nashville. “It was pretty crazy.”

“We didn’t know where exactly we were gonna go. We just thought, ‘Okay, it’s snowing here,'” the HGTV star recalled. “We parked on the side of the road and we started running because we knew someone was gonna tow our car. But you can’t really run in snow that is four foot high. So the whole thing was an adventure.”

Gaines said her long gown did not help the situation either.

“The dress was so big it didn’t even fit in the car,” Gaines said. “I remember even having to go to the bathroom and it was like trailing out of the stall. Everything about it was cumbersome.”

Gaines said the crew was able to save the shoot after finding a sled she could stand on in order to avoid sinking in the snow. But they were worried they were unable to obtain the perfect shot, the designer said.

‘FIXER UPPER’ ENDING AFTER SEASON 5, CHIP AND JOANNA GAINES ANNOUNCE

“It felt like every wrong thing was happening one after the other,” Gaines said.

But all the effort paid off.

Gaines said she was thankful the venture did not leave her with frostbitten toes.

“Next time, we’ll bring a camera with us because we should document stuff like that,” she said.
