David Letterman returns to TV with Netflix series
David Letterman comes out of retirement for a new Netflix series debuting in 2018 that features six one-hour episodes containing in-depth conversations and segments from the field
David Letterman’s upcoming Netflix series, which will premiere in 2018, could be the last piece of work he ever does.
“I think it’s going to be great,” Letterman, 70, shared on Wednesday’s episode of Sirius XM’s “The Howard Stern Show.” “It will probably be the last thing I do. So, I want it to be great. I love the people at Netflix…”
When asked if he’s worried the series — which will include long-form conversations with guests — will ever measure up to his 30 years on “The Late Show,” he said, “That’s a concern, but no, I’m not worried about it.”
Most people are used to seeing Letterman clean-shaven when he’s doing TV work, but as he says, the beard is here to stay.
“I’ll be buried with this,” he quipped. “I honest to God got so tired of shaving every day and that’s what I said when I first grew the beard and now I don’t know why I have it.”
