Justin Bieber’s spat with ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez on Instagram has led him to quit the social media platform all together, while she seemed to backtrack on her comments to him.

Bieber, who got into a war of words with Gomez over the weekend, followed through with his threat to take his account private, and even took it a step farther – his account had disappeared altogether by Tuesday morning.

He also took down his Twitter account.

Late on Monday night, Gomez, 24, spoke out once more on the drama via Snapchat.

"What I said was selfish and pointless," she wrote in her post.

It all started when Bieber, 22, posted several photos over the weekend of him and new gal pal, Sofia Richie, daughter of singer Lionel Richie.

The onslaught of negative comments from fans had him threatening to make his Instagram account private, which prompted Gomez to call out the pop singer for not being able to take the heat.

"If you can't handle the hate, then stop posting pictures of your girlfriend. LOL," she wrote, the New York Daily News reported. "It should be special between you two only. Don't be mad at your fans, they love you."

The “Sorry” singer was not entirely impressed with the comment and responded.

"It's funny to see people that used me for attention and still try to point the finger this way. Sad. All love," the Canadian singer fired back. "I'm not for anyone receiving hate. Hope you all can be kind to my friends and each other. And yes, I love my Beliebers."

Gomez fired back with her own stinging comment – which seemed to accuse Bieber of cheating on her during their two-year relationship.

“Funny how the ones that cheated multiple times are pointing the finger at the ones that were forgiving and supportive. No wonder fans are mad. Sad. All love," she wrote.

To which she added, throwing back Biebers words at him, “It’s funny to see people that used me for attention and still try to point the finger this way. Sad. All love.”

Bieber went radio silent soon afterward.

On Twitter, Sofia Richie wrote on Monday: “Justin is not shutting out his Beliebers. He's thankful everyday for y'all – y'all got him here. He doesn't forget that. Period.”
