More than 13,000 fans of “Suicide Squad” and other superhero flicks from DC Extended Universe have signed a Change.org petition titled “Shutdown Rotten Tomatoes.”
The petition claims review aggregator RottenTomatoes.com should be shut down because “[Its] critics always give The DC Extended Universe movies unjust bad reviews.”
“Suicide Squad” currently has a 33 percent rating on RottenTomatoes.com.
As of Wednesday, the petition had nearly reached its goal of 15,000 signatures.
But the petition received a heavy amount of backlash on social media as well.
People do realize @RottenTomatoes doesn't actually review movies, right? https://t.co/KbnOqk56Gb

This is one of the dumbest things I've seen lately. And there's real tough and dumb competition out there. https://t.co/mYCW4xEn65

On Tuesday, the creator posted a message clarifying the goal of the petition.
“The aim of the petition is to deliver a message to the critics that there is a lot of people disagree with their reviews.”
“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” and “Man of Steel” have 27 percent and 55 percent ratings on the site, respectively.
One thing the petition fails to note that up until recently, Rotten Tomatoes and DC’s Entertainment were both owned by the same parent company, Time Warner. The review site was sold to Fandango earlier this year, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
“Suicide Squad” hits theaters on Friday.
