Thomas Rhett won song of the year for “Die a Happy Man” at the American Country Countdown Awards in Los Angeles, and he told FOX411 each win makes a difference.

“I think your profile gets a little higher (every time you win an award),” he said. “Not only to be nominated, but when you actually win it people look at you differently. Even winning an ACM and tonight to win an AACA, I’ve felt my career shift slightly, and I can’t explain why that it is. But being up there tonight and getting an award for that song was super special for me and my career.”

“Die a Happy Man” was topping charts across the board — Billboard and Hot Country Songs — and Rhett said the award will be stored in his man cave.

“I call it a man cave but my wife designed it,” he admitted. “I got to pick a certain few things like football, helmets and jerseys, but I don’t know, it’s probably going to sit somewhere next to the TV I imagine.”

Currently on tour with Jason Aldean, Rhett said in their downtime the whole gang likes to be outside.

“When the summer hits, we play these big amphitheaters, so we will go up into the lawn and all the bands will have a Wiffle ball tournament. It’s super random but so fun. We try to hit it over the back wall.”

Rhett attended the awards show Sunday with his wife, Lauren.
