Hannah Ferguson is quite the shot. The model, who has appeared in Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition for the last three years, was taught by her parents. Her father was a sniper in the Marines while her mother was a Marine drill instructor.

“Growing up, at a pretty early age we learned to shoot,” she told FOX411. “They started us with pellet guns.”

Having both her parents and a brother who joined the Marines means the military holds a special place in her heart.

“I have a different outlook than most people,” the 23-year-old said. “I actually want to get involved with charities related to the military because I just have a special thing in my heart for all the soldiers and their families.”

Ferguson also feels like guns are sometimes misunderstood.

“I feel like it’s good to have gun knowledge. I feel like a lot of people are scared of guns,” she explained. “They think they’re bad and they really don’t know anything about it.”

The Texan born beauty believes there should be some kind of gun control, “maybe people should be tested or looked into more to see if they’re mentally unstable” before they’re allowed to purchase a firearm.

“I don’t think they should be taken away from people because any bad person who wants to find a gun is going to find a way to get it and then what?” she asked. “We don’t have a way to protect ourselves? I feel like people should get more knowledge and understanding.”
