Give Coldplay credit: It takes a certain lack of ego for musicians to essentially let themselves be upstaged at their own Super Bowl show.
Demi Lovato has long struggled with body image. But in recent months, the singer has taken ownership of her body and is feeling more confident than ever.
And she thanks Kim Kardashian for that.
Lovato, during an appearance on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” airing on Wednesday, revealed that she was really influenced by Kardashian’s curvaceous body when she was struggling with an eating disorder.
“When I was growing up, at the kind of age where your body starts changing and you want to be cool, it was in that era of when very, very, very thin people were the popular people in Hollywood, so that’s what I had to look up to,” the 23-year-old said.
She said when the Kardashians hit the TV screens, it was the first time she associated having curves with beauty.
“I remember thinking, 'Wow, that’s so cool!' And even in a time when I was still struggling with food, I was able to look at Kim’s curves and be like, 'I should really be proud of my curves,'” Lovato added.
This confidence motivated her to do the now famous Vanity Fair cover in which she posed nude and without make up.
During the interview, Lovato also opened up about her relationship with boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama. She denied media reports that the pair is engaged.
"I don't see a ring," she said. "I wouldn't mind if I saw one! There's a time for everything. We've been together this long so I'm not going anywhere, and vice versa."
