Marc Anthony and his wife Shannon de Lima Muñiz married just over a year ago in the Dominican Republic and, because planning wedding festivities is not stressful enough, the couple finished renovating their holiday getaway home on the island the very same day.

“Our housewarming party was literally our wedding week,” the singer said in the recent Architectural Digest issue highlighting celebrity homes. “Everybody flew in from around the world. We were seeing the house and living in it for the first time just as our guests were. We all explored it together!”

The sprawling property boasts 24 beds among its 10,000-square-foot main residence and guest bungalows. The secluded compound at the Casa de Campo resort on the eastern part of the island includes two swimming pools and a man-made beach, all linked by densely landscaped pathways.

“We made it big with the idea we’d be sharing it,” Anthony said.

The Nuyorican purchased the property three years ago – at the time it consisted of only the house and a pool surrounded by “wild vegetation.” He was quick to imagine the potential.

“The second we moved in I started drawing my ideas on napkins and buying up the adjacent lots. I just had a vision for it,” he said. “I’ve been touring for 20-something years. And when you’re locked in a hotel room, you learn to enjoy spaces.”

De Lima Muñiz added: “Marc appreciates detail and will spend as much time as it takes on something he’s passionate about. Sometimes we’d stay up until 5 A.M. just looking at colors and textures.”

Other amenities include an outdoor movie theater, a sports-bar pavilion and a series of palapas and villas to serve as guest quarters.

“I can sit in one spot for hours and simply watch my wife and kids in the pool or listen to the music playing on the sound system,” Anthony said.

The other celebrity homes showcased by Architectural Digest are Kourtney and Khloe Kardashian’s California homes and Naomi Watts and Live Schriber’s Manhattan duplex apartment.
