Demi Lovato explains why she is showing more skin these days

Demi Lovato is ready to ditch the turtlenecks for tank tops.

“A year ago, on tour, almost every inch of my body was covered by clothing, and it was because I was hiding behind so many layers. Once I started feeling better about myself, I felt better about showing more skin,” the 23-year-old singer told Allure magazine.”I have insecurities about my arms, so to wear a tank top on stage is extremely liberating for me, and uncomfortable sometimes. It’s also a statement, like, ‘Hey, watch out. You’re no longer getting the insecure Demi that you’ve been getting for the past couple of years. I mean business now.'”

With her six-year romance with Wilmer Valderrama still going strong, Lovato also shared that her life’s purpose isn’t about how many calories she consumes in a day.

“My food choices don’t rule my life anymore,” she said.

And while Lovato’s life these days may seem like a modern-day fairy tale, it isn’t without a few awkward moments.

“I was getting laser hair removal … down south … and the lady started talking about how her kid was a huge fan,” she said. “Boundaries.”
