Seal wasn’t a fan of Heidi Klum's yearly vow renewal

It turns out Seal wasn’t very into renewing his vows to Heidi Klum on an annual basis.

“That was my ex-wife’s idea, to be honest,” the singer said on Andy Cohen’s SiriusXM show on Monday. “It kind of turned into a circus, which I wasn’t terribly fond of.”

He noted that he’s “quite a private person,” and that although the tradition was “cool” it wasn’t necessary. “But then you’re married and you become a team player and you understand that each of you have different lives, and you do whatever you can to support your partner’s life,” he added.

Seal, 52, and Klum, 42, married in May 2005 and finalized their divorce in October 2014, two years after they split up. They are the parents of four children.

In 2010, Klum told Redbook about the yearly vow renewal tradition, “It’s our time – a lovely family time. It’s about remembering this moment of love we gave to each other and reinforcing it.”

She continued, “It’s so special to us, something we love and something our children have gotten accustomed to. It’s like, ‘Hey, Mom and Dad love each other and they get married every year!'”
