The couple, 54 and 36 respectively, “are pleased to announce that they are expecting a child in May,” Murphy’s rep told E! News.
Murphy and Butcher have kept the details of their four-year relationship largely under wraps.
Telling Vanity Fair in 2013, Butcher explained her reason for staying away from social media. “I’m in a relationship with a celebrity, so I felt like there’s already enough of me out there,” she added. “I felt like I was giving out too much information. I was giving people too much access. I like to keep as much private as possible now.”
The pair is often seen making Starbucks runs in Los Angeles. They were last seen together in Washington, D.C., in October, where Murphy was honored with he Mark Twain Prize for Humor.
Murphy and his ex-wife and reality star, Nicole Murphy, have five children together: Bria, 25, Myles, 22, Shayne, 21, Zola, 15 and Bella, 13. Murphy has a 26-year-old son, Eric, with Paulette McNeely and a 25-year-old son with Tamara Hood. Murphy is also the parent of an 8-year-old girl, Angel, with former Spice Girl Mel B.
