Demi Lovato is feeling confident, and she is letting it show.
The singer posed topless for the cover of Complex magazine and opened up about a broad range of topics including boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama, her outlook on body image and those pesky bisexuality rumors.
The 23-year-old also admitted that she doesn’t talk with longtime pal Selena Gomez and that it has nothing to do with Gomez’s past relationship with Justin Bieber.
“He’s actually a nice guy,” Lovato said of the Canadian pop singer. “I don’t really know him that well, but he seems to have grown up.”
She said her friendship with Gomez, 23, has changed because they are growing up, and its natural to separate.

“When you’re young and you get older, you change and people change. You have things in common, and then, all of a sudden, you don’t. It’s just a part of life,” Lovato added.
The former Disney star also delved into past experiences she has had to overcome, saying she is not the healthiest and happiest she has ever been.
“Lately, I’ve been coming to terms with my imperfections and not obsessing so much about trying to make myself perfect,” she told the magazine. “It’s a growing process.”
Luckily for her, Lovato has had the support of boyfriend Valderrama, whom she credits for helping her during her darkest times.
“We have been together for almost five years now, off and on. The only times that we were off was when I was not in a healthy state of mind, or he was like, ‘I can’t be with you until you get sober. I can’t enable what you’re doing right now,’” she said. “Or with food: ‘You need to get your food settled before you can get into a relationship. You need to learn how to love yourself first.’ So I did, and then that made our relationship so much stronger.”
The confidence she feels in their relationship is helping push Lovato professionally as well.
Her party anthem, “Cool for the Summer,” has been killing it on the airwaves, and it has some people speculating that the song's fun, summer-love gloss covers a true-life affair with another woman.
“Music is funny because music is like art, and art is an interpretation,” she told the magazine when asked what “Cool for the Summer” is about. “So the song can be interpreted by anyone to mean anything.”
She then flat-out denied having had a relationship with “Orange Is the New Black” actress Ruby Rose, a topic that has been tabloid fodder for years.
“I don’t feel like any of my past or future – when it comes to relationships that may have happened or not have happened – are of any concern to anybody. What matters to me is my relationship with Wilmer. We are in an amazing place,” Lovato said.
She added, “Rumors are rumors, and people are going to spread them. You can believe what you want, but no, I was not in a relationship with her.”
