Blake Shelton insists he and Miranda Lambert are still “buddies” after divorcing earlier this year. The "Gonna" singer says they agreed to not get nasty with one another publicly in the wake of the surprising split.

Shelton appeared on the Bobby Bones Show on Wednesday morning, explaining why the divorce seemed to happen so quickly. “In Oklahoma, it happens so fast, the singer explains. Once we filed for divorce, it was over in, like, I think it was like a nine or ten day waiting period until it’s over.”

Not having kids and having a pre-nuptial agreement in place helped expedite things. The speed worked in the couple’s favor, as both knew if it was dragged out, rumors would get started, and they wanted to avoid that.

“We knew if rumblings and rumors started coming out, they would just be that, because by the time anybody knew anything it was over. It was done,” Shelton furthers.

“Our whole thing was, we are going to be cool about this, it is what it is.”

Shelton and Lambert divorced on July 20th after four years of marriage. Hes kept busy with The Voice while Lambert begins her Roadside Bars and Pink Guitars Tour this month. Shelton is releasing "Reloaded: 20 #1 Hits" on Oct. 23. He is set to headline 2016 Country Jam in Grand Junction, Colo., next June. The singer told the Bobby Bones Show he’s considering a full tour in 2016, as well.
