Sherri Shepherd has reportedly closed a deal with ABC to return to “The View” for its 19th season.

Shepherd spent seven seasons on the show, even winning an Emmy Award with her co-hosts. She left last August after failing to agree with the contract terms ABC provided, and she insisted “God said it was time to go.”

FOX411 has learned Shepherd will likely appear on the show next season in some capacity. Several reports state Shepherd will return as a contributor, not as a full time co-host.

Her return is likely an attempt by the network to boost faltering ratings for the talk show. Over the past few months, as co-hosts have come and gone, the daytime talk show has suffered a significant ratings drop. The ratings recently dipped 16 percent in the second quarter, as compared to 2014 when Barbara Walters retired from the show. This year, the hosts have shuffled around almost constantly. Rosie O’Donnell bid farewell to "The View" in February due to health issues and Nicolle Wallace and Rosie Perez also parted ways with the show.

Scandals have also plagued the show in recent weeks.

More On This...

Whoopi Goldberg got in hot water for defending Bill Cosby despite his sworn testimony he gave admitting to giving women Quaaludes with the intent of having sex with them. She said: “I say this because this is my opinion, and in America, still, I know it’s a shock, but you are still innocent until proven guilty. He has not been proven a rapist.”

ABC legal analyst Dan Abrams sat down with Goldberg several days later and explained the basics of statutes of limitations, rape charges and the severity of the claims being made against Cosby. The co-host flip flopped and said "the information that’s out there kind of points to guilt."

Another riff this season was with Raven Symone and Candace Cameron as they got into a heated argument over a lesbian wedding cake video. An Oregon bakery made the decision to refuse service to a lesbian couple. Cameron argued that the bakery was not discriminating against the couple which prompted Symone to declare “I refuse to associate with you right now.”

A rep for ABC declined to comment on the Shepherd rumors.
