Here are a couple of chilling and telling lines from the first full trailer for "Jurassic World" that pretty much sum up the movie — and the franchise:
“These animals are thinkin’, I gotta eat, I gotta hunt." That’s one from Chris Pratt’s Owen, a park staffer who specializes in behavioral research. This one is from Bryce Dallas Howard’s Claire, the operations manager, who shouts it to colleagues on her car’s radio, “We have an asset out of containment.” Suppose we add one more from Pratt: “She’s killin’ for sport.”
From the looks of this trailer, there’s not a lot of the Spielbergian whimsy from the first film 22 years ago. No, this plays more like a nightmarish horror film, with people checking out in entirely unpleasant ways. Colin Trevorrow directed and Spielberg and Thomas Tull executive produced the sequel, which arrives 14 years after "Jurassic Park III."
There was some drama in recent weeks surrounding the screenwriting credits and the WGA’s arbitration process, so we’ll just list them thusly: screenplay by Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver and Colin Trevorrow & Derek Connolly; story by Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver; based on characters created by Michael Crichton.
The park is open June 12, when Universal releases it in 2D, 3D and Imax.
