Five years, two babies, a marriage and countless business ventures later, it looks like Jessica Simpson is finally ready to make her return back into the music industry.
The 34-year-old hasn’t had a new album since her holiday collection Happy Christmas in 2010, but she reveals she’s gotten back to work in the studio. However, Simpson says her kids, family and fashion tend to come before her music.
“I’m starting a record and I’m getting into a lot of other fun things, [but] fashion will always be a part of who I am,” she told "Extra" at the 2015 Teen Vogue Fashion University. “It’s literally like, if I’m not wearing a good outfit, I can’t sing a good song.”
She continues, “I don’t know how I fit everything in my life, but somehow it just happens … My kids are absolutely my priority.”
And speaking of those darling, little towheads, Simpson says they won’t shy away from the spotlight given the opportunity. “I have a recording studio in my house so I can be around my babies as well,” she explains. “They might try and sing over me, they won’t be my background vocalists, they’ll be like, ‘Ahhh,’ they’ll be upfront and personal.”
In fact, her two-year-old daughter Maxwell Drew has already taken a liking to expensive things. “She has completely taken over my makeup. It’s unfortunate that her purse, which is probably like $3, has all of my Chanel lipglosses.”
However, when it comes to fashion, the tot is more into her dad’s stuff. Simpson reveals, “Right now, her favorite fashion is her dad’s shirts and it’s funny because I always thought it was so romantic to wear your boyfriend’s shirt and Maxwell’s making that happen — her dad is her boyfriend."
