Country music’s golden girl Miranda Lambert grew up in the great state of Texas, but in recent years she has come to appreciate the beauty of her current home of Oklahoma.

The Grammy-winning singer was born and raised in the Lone Star State, but husband Blake Shelton brought her to settle with him in Oklahoma (that is, when they’re not in Nashville). During a recent chat with Tulsa World, the talented singer opened up about how she deals with missing her birth state while also embracing the Sooner State.

“Oklahoma has welcomed me, and I found my second home in my husbands home state,” Lambert shares. “We love living there on our farm; I am a fan of the small-town feel, and I get to be myself. My parents have instilled in me to be proud of where you come from, so I will always be very proud of being a Texan.”

In addition to their staple home bases, Shelton and Lambert lease a place in Los Angeles so they have somewhere to stay when the “Hillbilly Bone” hitmaker is working on NBC’s "The Voice."

No matter where Lambert is, her goal remains to create iconic country songs that country fans can relate to. “I try and create timeless songs,” she shares. “I want to continue writing and performing relatable music; if I feel it, I am sure someone out there does, too.”

While on her Platinum tour recently, Lambert, Gwen Sebastian and RaeLynn got matching tattoos to celebrate their sisterhood. The star will return to her home state for a show in Dallas on March 12. She’s set for an appearance at Taste of Country’s sister fest, WE Fest, in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota on August 7.
